MacBook Air Posted on: 1-14-2008

It seems the device was released after all. You can see technical specifications and Macbook Air pictures here
It's obvious I was wrong, so you don't need to read this article, since it's all speculations. And like in most cases Apple managed to surpass all our expectations.
Well, it's inevitable. No matter how hard we tried, we are in fact big Apple fans and we can't just ignore the rumored new ultraportable notebook, that's suposed to be launched today at Macworld 2008. Since the "There's something in the air" banner pictures showed up, everyone in the "Apple rumors" industry named the new device in many ways, most popular including the magic word "air": MacBook Air, AirBook, MacBook Feather, MacBook Go, MacFeather, MacbookPro Mini, MacPod, PodBook, PodMac.
Well I can only say one thing: It is NOT going to be named MacBookAir! I am 100% sure.
What do I base this on, you say? Whell, since we are all on the internet, I am basing this on domain names:
The "macbookair.com" domain was free just a few days ago, and was registered on Jan 11, the same day the "air" banners showed up. And it is suposed to be owned by some folks at macrumors.com Now if you were Apple and planned to launch a product named "MacBookAir" you wouldn't wait for the last day to register the .com domain, right? (Note that Apple owns both iPhone and iPod domains, so why not the "macbookair.com" one?)
Meanwhile here are some MacBookAir pictures to see how this new device will look like in the vision of some designers:
The top picture comes from Wired's gadget blog, along with this side view:

This Asus Eee PC style mini MacBook is what folks at TUAW.com used to ilustrate one of their MacBookAir articles:

This is the first picture of MacBook Air and is the one that started all this madness (i think it originates on 9to5mac.com but I'm not sure, since most Apple blogs picked it up):

And another nicely done version from websquirrel.blogspot.com:

Note these are all computer graphics, not pictures of the actual product. The thin notebook from Apple, if it exist, might look alot different. Just remember the fan generated pictures of the iPhone before the actual release and how new and differnt the real iPhone turned out.
