miCradle iPhone car holder

Following the success recipe of the original miMount for the iPod classic, Pro-Fit Mounts just added two more models to its popular iPod car holder family. The miTouch for iPod Touch and miCradle for the iPhone, which we will cover in this review.

The miCradle car holder is, like its predecessor, made of two components. The actual holder and the mounting base.

The holder offers a padded, professional fit so the device is secure and protected when used in a car. Also it's edges are designed to hold the iPhone firmly secured in place, yet allow full access to all its features, including the dock connector. This allows you to connect a car charger, an FM modulator, or any other kind of iPhone accessories.

The holder comes in three mounting options:
- UltiMount, the one in our picture, sticks to the dashboard or console with the 3M adhesive specifically formulated for automobile use.
- LOBOY, a more compact version of the UltiMount, also adheres using 3M adhesive.
- WindowMate, our personal favorite, a suction mount that attaches to the windshield, and has a flexible neck that can be adjusted in any position.

If none of these universal mounts fits your taste you can buy the holder separately and choose from the zillions of Vehicle Specific Mounts available here.

While with the classic miMount the company had to justify the use of black color for an iPod holder, it's no longer the case for the new models. Since black seems to be "the new black" in electronics, it is clear that they made the right choice.

You can see more details on Pro-Fit's site (admit it this company has a way with names) here: www.Pro-Fit-Intl.com

In the following picture you can see the holder for the iPod Touch (or the iTouch as we like to call it). It is very similar to its iPhone brother, only it was sized to iPod Touch's slimmer body.
